I have been slacking and didn't update this for a very long time! The past 2 weeks have been pretty awesome and full of things to do! The week leading up to surfing was full of anticipation and excitement. Finally it was our surf trip! We went into the city nice and early to make sure we were not late. We grabbed dinner at the wake up backpackers place and boarded the bus to Byron Bay. It took 6 hours to get to the middle of nowhere! We were literally in the middle of a national park with no service and we got there at 1am.. at one point i thought "this is where they kill us" We quickly picked a room for the 7 of us and fell asleep. The next morning we were woken us early to have breakfast and get to surfing. The weather wasnt the greatest weather ever.. it pretty much rained the wholeeee day but it was still such a great experience and was alot of fun! Surfing is very hard and tiring! Paddling and catching a wave is very difficult but it is the greatest feeling when you finally stand up and ride that first wave! All i wanted to do was throw my hand up and yell but i was way to concentrated on not falling off (which i fell off ALOT!) Overall the first day of surfing was fun! That night we hung around the camp, played games and met some really cool people. The next day the weather was BEAUTIFUL! The waves were not... They were huge and never gave us a break! It was so diffucult to catch a wave but i still caught a few which was a great accomplishment! I came back a little bruised but it was such a good weekend! We went back for a delicious lunch and then back onto the bus for a 6 hours ride back to the city. We then took a train back to Uni and i slept foreverrrr. The next few days I was so sore from surfing and could barely walk up the hill after class but i was a trooper and made it through. This week there wasnt really anything exciting going on and we had some nice and relaxing nights hanging out and cooked delicious dinners! Currentally we were just playing hangman on the wall with chalk because it is cold out and we dont feel like doing anything. Tomorrow we are venturing to the beach so hopfully the weather is as nice as they say it is going to be! Next tuesday we are going to the Opera House, which i am so excited for!
It is now September which means it is almost spring break and my birthday! I am really excited to go on day trips the first week of spring break and then New Zealand the whole second week! I am also excited to spend my birthday in a different country! It is exciting enough to have my birthday while studying abroad but I will also be traveling to a different country which will be even more fun! I miss my family and friends so much and i have been gone for almost 2 months already! It is so crazy how fast this semester is going by already! I am not taking anything for granted and living my life to the fullest. I am having the time of my life and am going to always remember this great experience.
